We assess a person’s individual positioning and seating needs and recommend appropriate equipment like chairs, wheelchairs, back-rests and cushions etc.

This can also include pressure care assessment and review of a person’s seating surfaces for power and manual wheelchairs, shower commode, lounge chairs, bed, and vehicles.

We can include retraining in functional transfers to reduce risk of future pressure injuries or prescribe equipment that may assist with pressure care management. Equipment can include trial and prescription of sliding boards, hoists/slings, hilo beds, shower commodes.

This process can include education on future pressure care management & prevention strategies. We can review the number and type of the functional transfers you perform in an average week. (An example is changing from a shower chair to shower commode when showering to significantly reduce the number of functional transfers and risk of pressure injuries during transfers).
